We’re getting into the spirit of Valentine’s Day here at Landauer and of course that lead us to dig through our books to find something simple and sweet to make for someone we love. McB found a simple heart quilt block in the book 2 Piece Patchwork and whipped a few together (a link to a free pdf of the instructions are below), while I spent some time pulling ideas on how to turn her blocks into a special item to gift or display around the office – you can see the Pinterest board full of the ideas I found right here on our Pinterest page. In the end we chose three ways to display the heart quilt blocks McB had made that were simple, fast and used items we already had around the office (or required minimal shopping).
Option 1 – A simple embroidery hoop makes for a great way to display the block on a wall without much work. We found the inspiration from this blog post at alamodefabric.blogspot.com
Displaying a quilt block in a frame is a precious way to save special blocks – and we’re inspired to use a white-board marker to jot little love notes we can change through the year. We saw plenty of gorgeous blocks in frames on pinterest – but here’s one blog with a great step-by-step of how she did it at thatsmyletter.blogspot.com.
Save your valentines cards, love notes, or whatever you’d like right along with your heart quilt blocks with a fun banner. We used red butcher’s twine and some small, painted wooden clothes pins we picked up at a stationary supply store.
